Welcome to First Grade!

My name is Lorrie Irwin and I will be your teacher this year.  I am very excited about the coming year!  This is my 16th year at South Clinton.

Let me tell you a little about myself.  I live in Clinton with my husband, Ron and my son Hunter.  Hunter is a senior at Clinton High School and is in the drumline for the CHS band.  I also have a daughter, Taylor, who is also a teacher.  Taylor teaches 2nd grade at Londsdale Elementary in Knoxville.  We have a dog named Josie and two cats named Lucy and Ethel that we enjoy spending time with.  I enjoy camping, hiking, swimming, paddleboarding and especially reading.

I love butterflies and caterpillars.  I spent several weekends this summer learning as much as I could about butterflies at several state parks.  I will be working this fall in the Great Smoky Mountains tagging butterflies to track their migration to warmer places.  We will learn a lot about their changes this year and you will see a lot butterflies in our classroom!

I would love to find out what you are interested in.  Please write me a short note and we will read them together during the first weeks of school.
